Glan-Y-Gors Round 4, May 2009

Qualifying > I went out in qualifying at the back of the grid, and this worked to my advantage as I got a lot of clear track to set my times on. I managed to get some reasonable times in although it took a long time to get up to speed. On the last lap I set a time of a 43.54, which put me 4th on the grid, 1 hundredth of a second slower than 2nd place.

Heat 1 > I started 4th for the first heat, out of 26. I had a reasonable start and managed to hold 4th spot. There was a small train of 3 karts, Jacob Hunstone (no.33), Elliot Griffiths (no.88) and me, and for a few laps we battled for position. I soon passed Elliot, and then on the following lap, passed Jacob to put me in second place. I broke the tow and pulled away, although there was no chance of catching Andy King (no.18) who had pulled out a huge gap as the three of us battled. I finished 2nd with a fastest lap a 43.64.

Heat 2 > I started on 2nd spot for the next heat, and had a bad start. Jacob Hunstone managed to pass me before I crossed the line, and this meant that Elliot Griffiths passed me at the first corner, after starting in 5th. Over the next two laps, I managed to pass both Jacob and Elliot, and I regained 2nd place. I held this to the flag, and my fastest lap was a 43.64.

Final > I started 2nd for the final. At the start, Jacob Hunstone and Hector Hurst (no.35) managed to get past me, but they both collided, putting Jacob well down the order, and allowing me to close right up to Hector. I passed Hector at the beginning of the second lap, and I pulled out a small gap to Lee Napolitano (no.GP). Andy King (no.18) won the race, I finished second and Lee Napolitano finished third, just over a second behind me. My fastest lap was a 43.55.
