Glan-Y-Gors Round 1, February 2008
Qualifying > I started last on the grid so that I could get some clear space for this new format of the race-day (3 lap practice > Qualifying > Heat 1 > Heat 2 > Final) and ended up about 4th for the first 3 laps, with my engine still warming up. I soon turned up the pace though, and put in the fastest lap (48.08) by 3 tenths of a second to the next fastest person, Joe Charlton (no.51).
Heat 1 > I started on pole for this because I had finished qualifying in first. I soon made a gap and pulled away. It was quiet from then on and I finished 6.78 seconds ahead of Declan Jones (no.16). My fastest lap was a 45.35.
Heat 2 > I started on pole for this heat as I had finished first in heat 1, and I had a great start, making 3 kart lengths on the person behind me in the first corner alone! I had a good heat, finishing nearly 10 seconds ahead of second place (Declan)! My fastest lap was a 45.6.
Final > I was first on the grid for this, although when we accelerated across the line to start the race, my engine bogged down which demoted me to second place. I made a move on Declan coming into the Spoon but I out-braked myself and he re-took first. I then tried again coming down the hill into Carousel, which I managed to hold, and I kept first for the rest of the race, and after a near-spin, I finished 4.96 seconds ahead, my fastest lap being a 49.53.
