Glan-Y-Gors Round 9, October 2006
For some reason the race organisers changed the order of the heats and decided that Minimax should go out onto the track in the first heat with Junior Rotax! It caused a lot of carnage.
Heat 1 > In this heat I started on pole but at the rolling start, before we had crossed the line, two people jumped the start dropping me back to 3rd. There was no restart as the junior race had started at the same time using a split grid so I lost out. I stayed in 3rd until no.45 (who was ahead of me at the time) made a move on no.51 and I made my way through as well to 2nd place. I stayed here for two laps until I had an accidental nudge from no.62 which put me back to 6th place, which is where I stayed for the remaining 4 laps.
Heat 2 > I started 6th in this heat, and fell back to 7th on the second lap. By the next lap though I had made it back to 6th and three laps after up to fifth. I stayed there not being able to close the gap for the end of the heat.
Heat 3 > I started 8th on the grid this time, and had made three places up by the end of the first lap, and another by lap two, then yet another by lap three, putting me in 3rd spot. No.45 had taken someone off though and the stewards gave her a black flag, taking me to 2nd place, which is where I stayed for the flag.
Final > With a 6th, a 5th and a 2nd place I started 3rd. I couldn't get past no.51 after the start, who I was clearly quicker than on most laps, but continually trying unsuccessful moves made me lose some time. I was frustrated staying behind him for the whole race, until the last three or four laps, when no.45 caught up with us and tried to overtake around the outside of me down the straight, which didn't work. On the last lap I made a last ditch move round the outside to try and get past 51, but that unfortunately lost me 3rd to no.45 and left me in 4th place. The positions stayed the same until the finish.
