Glan-Y-Gors Round 8, September 2006
My first race off my novice plates (black background white numbers). I had a second place start on the front row in one heat.
Heat 1 > I started 6th in this heat. By the second lap, I had made it to 4th. By the next lap I had made it up to 3rd, but lost it again on the next lap. I dropped back to 4th and stayed there for the remaining laps.
Heat 2 > I started 2nd in this heat. I had a bad start and got pushed nearly onto the grass and down into 7th place. I made my way to 5th over three laps. I had lost a place though to no.46 for the next three laps although I got it back for the finish.
Heat 3 > I started 6th in this heat. At the start I lost a place but in the next lap I got it back, and the lap after that I got to 5th. I stayed there for 4 laps then got past 45 to move me to 4th for the finish.
Final > In the final I started 4th. I had a good start but didn't make up any places. Coming out of the Spoon corner and going down to the Carousel corner, there was a lot of moves made, 45 trying to pass 46 on the inside, 24 looking for a move on the outside, and me trying to go around the outside of 24. 45 decided not to make the move and moved back in, forcing 24 across the track towards me and nudging me onto the grass and my back wheel wouldn't get back on the track, making me spin off. I dropped to last place and had to get past some novices so that I could try and get back up into the running. Also contact involving 46 accidentally going over the side and front of 62's kart, left bits of plastic everywhere. As I made my way past some of the novices I thought that I was really far back and it spurred me on to get past the other novice and carry on racing. In the end my dad told me that I had come 4th, and I thought I'd finished somewhere like 7th or 8th!
