Glan-Y-Gors Round 4, May 2006
There were 6 novices this weekend and I had to work hard in this round to win the novice trophy.
Heat 1 > At the start I made a place on no. 94 and kept it for four laps until he made a move at the Spoon corner at the top of the track and I couldn't get back past, putting me back where I started in 11th place.
Heat 2 > I started 10th on the grid and by the end of the second lap I had managed to get up to 5th place ahead of no.45 but ran wide dropping me down to 7th. After three laps of not being able to get past a 'wide' but slower driver, I made my way through to 6th keeping that place for the finish.
Heat 3 > I started on the inside for this heat, on 11th spot. I didn't make too much progress in this heat but I was racing with the other novices. I managed to get to the front of the group, and then saw another novice ahead of me but behind two other karts. I didn't manage to get up to battle with them, but I closed the gap by about half a second in the process though.
Final > In the final I started in 8th place ahead of a 'non-novice' and no.94 started in 6th giving me something to target for the race. I had a battle with the novice no.79 and we swapped places a few times but in the last few laps we both got past the other novice no.94. In the end I took the novice trophy by 1.398 seconds.
