Glan-Y-Gors Round 10, November 2006

The last round of the season!

Heat 1 > In the first heat I was starting 5th, but because the club had entered a novice wrongly or there was an error in an entry sheet, a novice was put down as a non-novice. When corrected I started 4th. As we went around on the rolling lap it started to rain. Someone who had anticipated this had put wets on and they drove away to take the heat win. But I had slight problems with my engine (I think it was sucking in a bit of water!) and I dropped back to 5th. I stayed there until the end of the heat.

Heat 2 > This time I started 9th. By lap 2 I had made it to 4th. But we had the wrong tyre pressures in the intermediates so I lost a place to put me in 5th again I kept it for the finish.

Heat 3 > This heat was very boring, because I started 3rd and finished 3rd and didn't make or lose any places in between the start or finish.

Final > In the final I started 4th. On the first corner my front bumper got stuck between no.24's rear wheel and rear bumper. I lost places on this but got going and managed to get ahead of no.24. By the time I had got to the Spoon corner I had managed to make some places up. I was right behind no.51 and made a move on him into Spoon but no.24 hit him and sent him ahead of me, me onto the grass, then someone else slammed into my rear wheel, moving my rear axle including the sprocket carrier and the brake disc 20mm! Of course I did not know this and I carried on, even more determined to finish high up even though I knew I had a problem with the drive. At the end of lap 5 my chain ripped itself off after chewing up my sprocket and not being able to take any more strain from being misaligned. Immediately my chain came off, no.93 slammed into the back of me (because I was slowing down), he spun and no.116 went over him and completely smashed his nassau panel and steering. It was my first DNF (Did Not Finish) of the season, however I was unscathed and a little unlucky.
